Indented PC Wire for Prestressed Concrete: Production, Performance and Applications
Indented PC Wire for Prestressed Concrete: Production, Performance and Applications
Prestressed concrete PC wire is widely used in concrete structures where high tensile strength and long-term prestressing performance are required. Shandong Anli Metal Co., Ltd. supplies low-relaxation indented PC wire for prestressed concrete applications, with diameters ranging from 4 to 12 mm and production available to ASTM A421, BS5896 and other international standards.
The wire is produced from high-carbon steel grades such as 65, 70, 85, 65Mn and 55Si2Mn. Through cold drawing and stabilization treatment, the steel is processed into straight, high-strength wire suitable for concrete prestressing work.
Cold Drawing and Surface Processing
Cold drawing is an important part of PC wire production. The process reduces the wire diameter while improving its tensile properties and dimensional consistency.
After drawing and stabilization, the wire can be supplied with different surface forms, including smooth, indented, embossed and serrated surfaces. For prestressed concrete applications, the indented surface is particularly useful because it increases the mechanical interaction between the steel wire and surrounding concrete.
This helps improve bond strength and anchorage performance when the wire is incorporated into prestressed concrete members.
High Tensile Strength and Low Relaxation
PC wire needs to maintain its prestressing force over a long service period. For this reason, tensile strength alone is not the only consideration; relaxation performance, elongation and straightness are also important.
Stabilization treatment after cold drawing helps control long-term stress loss. The resulting low-relaxation wire is suitable for concrete components that require stable prestressing performance over time.
For outdoor and infrastructure projects, corrosion protection can also be considered. In addition to standard PC wire, coated and galvanized versions are available for applications with higher durability requirements.
Applications in Concrete and Infrastructure
Indented PC wire is mainly used in prestressed concrete structures. Typical applications include bridge girders, railway sleepers, concrete poles and other precast concrete components.
It can also be used in cable and engineering applications where high-strength steel wire is required. The choice of diameter, surface configuration and corrosion protection depends on the structural design and service conditions.
For bridge construction in particular, the combination of high tensile strength, low relaxation and good concrete bonding makes PC wire suitable for prestressing systems used in long-span and load-bearing concrete members.
Supply and Customization
Shandong Anli Metal Co., Ltd. supplies PC wire in coil weights of approximately 500–2,000 kg, with waterproof wrapping for container shipment. Production can be arranged according to project requirements, including customized dimensions and specified surface conditions.
The products can be supplied according to GB, BS, JIS, ASTM, DIN and AISI standards, with relevant quality documentation available for export orders. The standard PC wire starts from a minimum order quantity of 10 tons, while other versions such as 7-wire low-relaxation strand, epoxy-coated strand and galvanized strand are also available.
